Teacher, Please Don't Kill My Creativity!

This posting is for you Bro!

After the great weekend, life is back to normal and things settled down a little. As usual I was supporting the preview yesterday night and in one of the session, the speaker asked "What are the obstacles that are stopping you from becoming an entrepreneur?"

One of the obstacles is "Fear of Failure" and the speaker was sharing that fear comes from conditioning. When we were young, when teacher asked a question, all the kids put up their hands and shout "Teacher! Teacher! Call me!"

And when the teacher calls you, and you gave the wrong answer, other kids laugh at you. Teacher will call you "Stupid!" and stuff like that.

This session remind me that my buddy asked me to share my similar story on blog and this was how it goes...

I was in Primary 4 and we were given assignment to read up on how was rain formed. I admit, I was lazy and did not read it...When the teacher asked "Who can explain how rain is formed?" and I was hoping that the teacher won't call me. Like I said Law of Attraction was so powerful, and the teacher called me to explain!

I remembered reading some of the material and I answered, "First the sun heat up the water from sea, lake and river and the water evaporate and raise up to the sky." (So far so good...)

"Then the water collect together and form clouds" (The teacher and the class was impressed but that's all I know...and my creativity kicks in!)

"And then when thunder strikes, the thunder hit the clouds and break the clouds. The clouds burst and down comes the rain!"

At this point the whole class laughed and I thought to myself "S**T!!!"

The teacher knew that I did not do the assignment and I stood outside the class for the rest of the period! Come to think of it it was funnnnnny but to the 10 year-old me, it was embarassing and felt like I had committed a very sinful crime.

It was not until Money & You that I attended 2 years ago that helped me alot with my self-esteem.

So to my teacher friends, "Please do not kill the creativity of children by punishing us."

Last but not least, I release the experience and forgive myself. I forgive my teacher. WOOOSSSHHH!!!

Have you any similar funny experience(s) that left you feel embarrassed? Just know that the teacher are doing their best to educate us and thats the only method that they know is effective...Forgive them and bless them.
