Since I started work in the new company, MP3 player and a book had been a good companion to me, travelling in the MRT for 1hr 15mins.
2 days ago, as I looked up in the MRT, I realised that 40% of the passengers are also having an MP3 for companionship. Then this thought strikes me: with the advancement of technology, we, humans are using more and more energy. Battery in particular, since the beginning of walkman and handphones, and thus the birth of mobile entertainment has become the main source of energy.
Mobile entertainment and phones, once luxury, now have become necessity and norm. Even primary school students own an MP3 or handphone.
Now imagine, how many batteries we discard in a year for mobile entertainment. I couldn't keep count of how many batteries that I had discarded.
This disturbing thought prompted me to find how to safely dispose used batteries. In the search I learnt that the chemicals and toxic from batteries (so many type of batteries, from alkaline to lead batteries for cars) may seep into ground water bodies from the dump sites. The consolation is that batteries makers have a committee and today, batteries are made with almost no mercury, and less harmful substance. Yet, we are still polluting.
Other than that, I could hardly find any info on how to properly and safely dispose of used battery after an hour or so...The best 2 website I could find are:
1. There's a hobby club that have a forum and discuses many way to reuse used batteries, modifying laptop batteries to be used on toys, etc. Interesting reading but I do not recommend it because modifying the batteries may cause harm like poisoning yourself or spoil your electronic equipment.
2. There's a blog started by a teacher also voiced her concern about disposing used batteries. In this blog, there's a comment left by someone stating that certain NOKIA centers in Singapore (I remember there's one in Causeway Point, Woodlands) do collect back spoilt handphone batteries and other batteries. Thank you NOKIA!!!
That's about all the info I can find on disposing used batteries. Unsatisfied, I found the website of a renowned battery maker. I e-mailed them if they have a collection point for old batteries and the reply is that they do not have collection points because the pollution level is not classified as danger thus not required by NEA in Singapore to provide a collection point (sounds like a justification to me!)
So, does anyone have any suggestion or know something on how to dispose used batteries safely? Please kindly share..

I Feel Great Dating My Wife Again
Last night I dated my wife to watch Pirates of The Carribean, At The World's End. The show was funny and enjoyable.
This outing brings back the feeling of excitement in the early part of our relationship. The process of calling her in the afternoon to confirm the time, getting the tickets and looking forward to the movie.
Who says it's no more romantic after married? I think not, because I think marriage is not the end of dating, it's just a new chapter of "dating". I don't want to be one of those guys who doesn't mind carrying shopping bags when in courtship and after married, what happens? The wife have to drag the husband to go shopping with her. In fact, dating helps me keep the blissful feeling, to be able to enjoy the happy moments together.
My wife and I watched Pirates of Carribean, Black Pearl while we were in courtship, Pirates of The Carribean, Dead Man's Chest after we were engaged and now Pirates of The Carribean after we were married and all are happy outings...I don't know about my wife, but I felt contented after the movie because we did not spent much time on our own after the wedding. Let's go out more yeah!
What else can we do to re-ignite the romance in our life? Maybe you can give me some suggestion.
P.S. There's an extra clip in Pirates of The Carribean, At The World's End after all the acknowledgements

What I Eat Is What I Get?
Have you heard of the food that you take affects the energy level that you have? I have heard about it but I was skeptical until today.
I have been having lunch with my colleagues for the past 1 week or so, and mainly we visit the Kopitiam nearby. Usually, I have rice with gravy, together with 2 vegetable dishes and 1 meat dish as I believe that I shall eat a balance of protein and fiber. I have problem keeping awake from 1.30pm to 2.30pm and time was moving in slow motion.
Today we visited another Kopitiam and I decided to have vegetarian food because the queue was very long for economy rice, and other noodle stores. The stall also sells unpolished rice! I was thinking “Great! Let’s taste if the unpolished rice here is as good as the organic restaurant in KL.”
Since I am having vegetarian, I also thought I should go green today so I avoided choosing the normal vegetarian fried stuff and flour dishes. I had green stuff and a soup to go with the unpolished rice (good for my diet since I have not been losing a single kg after going to TKD trainings and jogs! Since it is way far from my target, it’s frustrating man!).
As I am preparing to leave and call it a day, I suddenly had a realization that I am still energetic even though I slept late and woke up early and I didn’t feel the usual drag in between 1.30pm to 2.30pm just now. In fact I had completed my task given to me this morning and I felt productive!
I am going off in about 15mins time and I have the zest to type up something for you to read…I think I am going green again tomorrow!
So my friends pay attention to what you eat. I definitely will today onwards...

Well Done KL!
I went for a jog this morning. I had not been jogging for quite some time it’s dificult to start the momentum.
Once the body has warmed up, the feeling of freedom, with the breeze brushing over the face, felt so good. But the feeling only last for about 10mins. The next 10mins was quite a struggle as my acid in the body from Friday’s Taekwondo training made it’s presence felt. This is where determination was required. I made a point to run non-stop at least for the next 10 mins.
Alas, I gave up at 25mins, 5 mins short of my target. I brisk walked for another 10mins, and I remembered Joe told me about Rock Lee from Naruto. He’s the “genius” of hard work. Because he has no talent in special ninja technique, he rely on his hand-to-hand combat techniques to carry out his missions. He always set unrealistic targets for himself, and if he does not achieve it, he’ll set another crazy target because he could not accomplish what he had promised himself to do, like 2000 punches or 1000 push-ups.
I thought it was funny while I was walking, but I follow his foot step to set another target: I’ll climb the staircase to the top of the block instead of taking the lift. This give me extra motivation and I sprinted back to my block.
I climbed 16 storeys of staircase and I must say the last 4 storeys are tough. Luckily, I manage to complete because while at the 12th storey, I was telling myself, if I canot accomplish this and give up, I’ll do 100 push-ups.
At the end, I felt satisfied with the achievement and I know I deserve the rest…Great job KL.
P.S. This phuysical and mental challenges are norm in Taekwondo training, thus it is said that martial art trains the determination and mind of its practitioners. And that’s why I like going Taekwondo training!

Secrets To Having A Great Relationship
After reading the recent postings from my friends on how wonderful my relationship is with my wife (thank you for the acknowledgements because the feedbacks let us know that we are on the right track), I suddenly remembered that one of my friend asked me about a month ago, if Sylvia and I have special methods that make us more loving each day. I shared some of the things here with her and some of the things I just added in this blog for the purpose of sharing.
I guess I am blessed that Sylvia and I had attended Money & You program in 2005. The program has given us much awareness, distinction and most importantly the tools to "orbit in love". We had discussions about expectations, visions and some other uncomfortable topics including money and we use the jargon and terms we learnt from the program to help us to arrive with some resolutions. I had made the decision to propose to Sylvia only after Money & You and I am so sure that we can "grow up" (grow old seems to be not a very powerful affirmation, hehe) together.
For this, I thank Money & You and all the people who bring this program to Singapore and Malaysia, Executive Directions and Globe Success Learning. To know more, you can visit www.exec-directions.com/mnu.php (from this site, you can sign up for a free seminar to get a a litle taste of what the program is like, orgnised by Executive Directions in Singapore and KL) or www.excellerated.com (the original website of Money & You, where you can read more about the program)
On top of that, we are also blessed to have met a great mentor who constantly guide us with profound questions to think about. Some of the questions he asked are so simple but given thought it gives much to think about, like for example he asked us this before we tied the weding knot: "What does marriage mean to you?". For this, I must acknowledge John for your love and support. You can find out more on his work (very interesting way to make a living and add value) at http://www.johnstamoulos.com/en/index.html
I guess self improvement and development plays a big part. I believe not only in love and romantic relationship, but also self improvement and mastery in all areas of life.
Sylvia and I had developed a communication system. Whenever we feel mad about the other partner or want some changes from either one, we write a note on that, and why we feel that way. This works especially well for uncomfortable topics or when emotionally charged situations because when writing, the other person can't rebut, justify or lay blame and it gives time to read fully and think through the situation before replying the note. Don't take my word for it, test it out with your spouse or friends.
We use this method so that whatever issues can be discussed and not kept under the carpet till the matter get worse. Sometimes, for some emotional issues, we also do sincere sharing through knee-to-knee sharing (another Money & You technique, very powerful!) and listen actively to each other.
For happy "issues" or matters, we fet two bottles to collect folded stars with written messages of appreciation for each other whenever we felt that we are grateful for the things that we have done for each other. Whoever is the first to get the bottle filled up will get a gift from the other party...fun and it's rewarding to see the stars adding up.
Last but not least, this is a ritual that we have, which is not even agreed upon verbally nor written. It just happened automatically after we stayed together. We give each other a KISS, every morning and before sleep. Any kisses other than that are bonuses.
There you have it, our secrets to our great relationship...Hmmm, maybe can write into a book. Maybe can be a best-seller like "Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus" (a great book by Dr. John Gray that I strongly recommend). Have a great weekend loving!

How Do You Know He/She Is The One For You?
Well, I do not have the one answer to let you know if he/she is the one for you. Perhaps, it may be different from one person to another. But if you were to ask me how do I know if Sylvia is the one for me?
I can tell you that there's no logic and it's all feelings...Feelings like this song.
For my friends and readers who are looking for love, all the best!
P.S. Remember to manifest and write down what type of girl or man you desire, in terms of look, personality, habits, wealth, family background, etc. before the feelings take over the logic! Last note "May you be the right person to enter to your dream partner's life too!"

Sufficient Leading To Abundance
I had learnt about the concept of "Sufficiency" from the book "Soul of Money" by Lynette Twist about a month ago.
Practising sufficiency in my daily routine have been a great experience so far. Some of the area that I practise sufficiency is like when I wake up, I tell myself "I have sufficient sleep" gives my day sufficient energy, even though I wake up early.
I also practise sufficiency in my meals, especially taking dishes from mixed rice stall. I only take amount sufficient for my consumption for lunch, dinner and tea break. This helps me alot in weight control for I do not over eat.
In short, with practising sufficiency helps me to feel contented, blessed and grateful with almost everything I have, yes, including money! Try it for yourself! Just tell yourself, "I have sufficient money for my lunch today!" (with the feeling of contentment and with no worries about how little or how much money you have in the wallet - that's the detail)
Yesterday, I have a distinction! I was taking MRT and transferring to bus to my office (has been trying out new routes to see which is the most efficient way, or shortest time to the office). When I was alighting from MRT, I saw the bus that I wanted to board left...how frustrating especially when I only have 10mins to reach my office to clock in and I estimate the bus travel time is 10 mins and walking from bus stop to office takes about 3mins to 5mins (that's the usual first reaction, but hold on and read on).
So I told myself (in my head or else the crowd in the bus stop will be thinking, "What's up with this crazy guy?") "I will have sufficient time to reach my office in time". Now, this affirmation has been usual for me in my practice of sufficiency and has not failed me so far.
Then this thought came to my mind. I have been sufficient so far, why not think abundance? So I re-phrase my affirmation, "I will have sufficient time to reach office 5mins earlier".
The outcome...I was late for 2mins when I was in the elevator! Yet, I wasn't frustrated nor impatient as sufficiency affrimations have been working well for me and I have faith in it.
When I was at the office door, I saw 2 other colleagues waiting outside the door and they told me the door was still locked because the person with the key wasn't here yet. By the time the door was open, I reckoned I was about 3mins early! (I did not check my watch although my "C" is high). I gave a silent thank you for the affirmation that works!
I was a little late but the keyman is later than me! So relatively, I am early...Savvy? (Must have picked it up from Captain Jack Sparrow, kekeke)
Test out sufficiency and abundance mentality for yourself! I challenge you to do it for 1 month and see the miracles of it!
Note: At the beginning, you may encounter distractions but push on! Maybe our sub-concious is testing our conviction to the new thing. All the best!

1 Distinction, 2 Occasions In 2 Days
This is an interesting occurrence, things happened for a reason and not randomly. I have received this one distinction, two times in two occasions within two days. The distinction is:
The amount of ENERGY and ENTHUSIASM by one individual spreads and brings positive effects!
I had personally experienced it at the Taekwondo training session I participated on Tuesday, and so has my dear friend experienced it in his workplace!
My experience
A junior was leading the Taekwondo training when I arrived at the dojang (training hall in Korean, Karate practitioner uses dojo, savvy?). At the end of the session, the junior who was leading the training came up to me and thanked me for coming. I asked why so and his reply was that the group becomes livelier and more energetic when I when I joined in the training with them.
In response, I told him that the amount of energy and enthusiasm that a trainer put in the training is reflected in the rest of the participant. I further asked him, how many percent of energy and enthusiasm he put in when conducting the training that day. He reluctantly said less than 100%. The good thing is he admits it and promise to put in more effort. Hmmm…Am I a good coach or what?
My friend’s experience
My dear friend was very excited when he shared with me, about 2 weeks ago that a lady had offered him a post for Assistant Relation Manager for another bank. He was flattered and yet was humble enough to admit his experience in the banking industry is insufficient and tactfully declined the offer, although he is aiming for that position.
When I met him last night, I saw the same enthusiasm and sparkle in his eyes again. He shared that the leader of the main dealer team from the bank he is working now offered him a position to be part of dealer’s team. Again, he was flattered and again he tactfully declined because that is not the work he wanted…yet, although it is a glamorous offer (at least from my perspective judging from the way he described the situation because I am not familiar with banking industry).
I shared with him the distinction I had and that his consistent high energy and enthusiasm he brings to work everyday had drawn positive attention, and there may be some who had been influenced with his manners. Hence, doors of possibilities welcome him. He gave it a thought for a moment and agreed with the distinction. I am happy for him!
So what percentage of energy and enthusiasm are you in when mending your business or work?

Miss Me?
I am back finally to blogging, after a break of more then a week.
Lots of things had happened for the past week...I went for an interview, went for a short holiday in KL and Cherating, celebrated my Dad's birthday, got an invitation for a friend's wedding and alas started my new job as engineer. Thanks Jean and SCG gang for celebrating my success in the interview! Haha...I am so blessed
So are you interested to know what have I learnt over the week?
Prior to the holiday, I was finishing "Attractor Factor" by Joe Vitale. I find that the new job that I land on is too good a coincidence. I believed that I had attracted it using the 5 steps prescribed in the book. I felt that the book just come at the right time...I am blessed and grateful to have job and that I have the capable to carry out efficiently.
My first day of work was very slow paced, too slow to my liking. I learnt about the company's system, via ISO90001 and did a medical check up. My friends in business, there is an important learning here...Because I have no assignment and clear direction, 1.5 day was wasted, including today. I had not contributed much. The good thing is I took the oportunity to read on engineering stuff that I had lost touch. So entrepreneurs, have a handbook to orientate the new staff and make sure they are able to contribute immediately. Every man-hour wasted is money paid to staff, even not contributing to the business.
I will change things tomorrow as my moto is "Service Above Self". I look forward to another day so tht I can be productive.
If you have not a book to read, find "Attractor Factor" and start attracting your wishes!
